About Maria Esztergalyos:

Maria Esztergalyos graduated with a BFA in Photography from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA in 1997. During her last semester at UW, she took an introductory class in Adobe Photoshop and was instantly hooked!

She soon moved to New York City, where eventually she worked as an office manager and assistant at a retouching company, Wrench LTD. During her time at Wrench, she was introduced to the world of high-end retouching.

Later, she worked as a studio manager and retoucher for commercial photographer, Monica Stevenson. During this time, Maria was able to refine her retouching skills and work on a wide variety of projects. She also retouched two Debeers diamond ad campaigns, “Shape of Your Love” and “Right Hand Ring” for J. Walter Thompson with photographer, Stephen Hellerstein.

In 2003, Maria and her husband moved to Los Angeles. She did graphic design for Whole Foods Market and continued to freelance retouch for various photographers such as Chris Fortuna, Wendy Hope, and Avi Roth.

In 2006, Maria and her husband moved to Seattle, WA. She worked for Iridio, retouching for various catalogs such as Eddie Bauer, Gumps, Brooks Brothers, etc. and gained valuable experience retouching for pre-press.

Maria continues to retouch celebrity, fashion, beauty, headshot, jewelry, & still life images for advertising, editorial & promotional purposes. She also retouches for the boutique pre-press retouching company, Imagine Color Service, working on various catalogs such as Nordstrom, Arthur Beren, Tommy Bahama, Pendleton, and Restoration Hardware.

In addition to photo retouching, Maria also is the owner/designer of Ula, a fashion accessories company.
